Dupré Logistics LLC participated in the annual Texas Challenge on July 8-10 in Corpus Christi.

The Challenge is an annual competition organized by the Texas Department of Public Safety’s Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Service to recognize the best commercial vehicle inspectors as well as to represent the State of Texas at the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance’s North American Inspectors Championship (NAIC). This is done in conjunction with the American Trucking Association’s National Truck Driving Championship.

By joining the Texas Challenge, it gave Dupré Logistics, and other sponsors in the safety industry an opportunity to watch and assist in the judging. One particular event Dupré Logistics judged was the “best of the best”, which consisted of performing various inspections. Some of the inspections performed included a NAS (North American Standard) Level I Inspection, a NAS Level V Passenger Carrier Vehicle Inspection, a NAS Non-Bulk Hazardous Materials Inspection, and a NAS Bulk Packaging Hazardous Materials Inspection. “This provided an excellent opportunity for Dupré Logistics and other industry partners in safety who do not know or have never seen exactly what occurs during various roadside inspections a first-hand experience,” said Chris Gray, Field Safety Supervisor at Dupré Logistics.

Texas Challenge, an event that improves the quality of our inspectors and their roadside inspections, also provides our industry partners in safety with the ability to create fellowships and support our mission of safety and voluntary compliance.

“We talked with multiple law enforcement agencies, including the Texas Department of Public Safety, the Harris and Travis County Sheriff’s Offices, and Houston Police Department-CVE, on the criteria used to spot and identify deficiencies when conducting commercial vehicle inspections. ” said Gray.

This event allowed for great networking conversations with fellow companies and business competitors in the transportation and logistics industry. Discussions on the upcoming federal law changes for the ELD mandate and how the industry is applying technology to power units in addition to educating the driver force on compliance regulations were just some of the topics discussed.
