When most people think of how technology is changing the trucking industry, they
immediately go to self-driving trucks – which are already more than an idea.
Though still a novelty, they are reality. Since early October, autonomous trucks have
been hauling refrigerators along the I-10 corridor from a warehouse in El Paso,
Texas, to a distribution center in California. A human driver rides in the cab to
monitor the computer chauffeur.
