AVOID DELAYS IN YOUR SUPPLY CHAIN DURING CVSA INTERNATIONAL ROADCHECK WEEK

Wednesday, September 02, 2020

International Roadcheck is the largest targeted enforcement program on commercial motor vehicles in the world. It spans across North America and takes place during a 72-hour period.  During this annual event, CVSA-certified inspectors conduct compliance, enforcement and educational initiatives targeted at various elements of motor carrier, vehicle and driver safety. Each year, the CVSA emphasizes a category of violations and this year the group is highlighting driver requirements. Historically this event occurs at the end of May however this year it was postponed due to COVID-19 and will take place September 9-11.

How this impacts your supply chain

During this three-day event many carriers choose to take their trucks off of the road to avoid inspection which has historically caused capacity to tighten and rates to increase as much as 30%. In 2019, 17.9% of carriers were penalized and removed from the roads due to violations. Of those 4.9% were placed out of service. When this occurs delays in shipments are inevitable.

How can you be prepared

“Safe Service” has been the foundation of our company culture for 40 years. A pre-trip inspection and post-trip inspection are performed before and after on any equipment that is used. Our carrier partners go through an extensive vetting process to ensure we are partnered with qualified carriers.  We are ready  everyday not just during roadcheck week and our safety record speaks for itself. Reach out to your Dupré representative for more insight on how we can help you to avoid disruptions to your supply chain.
